Rotherham Archives and Dig Where You Stand explored overlooked histories of people of colour in South Yorkshire’s archival records.

Participants were introduced to the mission and past work of Dig Where You Stand, with the chance to view short films that bring archival stories to life. This workshop offered a creative and reflective space to engage with local histories through writing and image-making.

Dig Where You Stand unearth the untold stories of people of colour. Either living, working and putting down roots in South Yorkshire over hundreds of years. This was developed by their Creative Director Désirée Reynolds in 2021, during her six-month residency at Sheffield City Archives.
